Changelog

Follow new updates and improvements to Lunch Flow.

January 15th, 2025

My goal behind Lunch Flow has been to complement Lunch Money’s mission of streamlining personal finance management. While Lunch Money is quite flexible, it’s tough to beat the flexibility of a good old Google Sheet.

Now you can sync your bank data into a Google Sheet, which makes it quite easy to build customized views, perform complex analysis, or even create templates that can be shared with the community! The possibilities are endless 🤩

I also took this opportunity to simplify the account configuration UI and streamline the app's navigation.

Here’s what the new experience looks like:

I wanted to make it easier to look up which banks are supported by Lunch Flow, here’s a demo of what that new experience looks like 👇

It has been an absolute pleasure sharing Lunch Flow’s journey with the Lunch Money team, and chatting about what’s next.

A redesign of our home page felt overdue for a while!

The new landing page features:

  1. Modern dark mode.

  2. Clearer, more streamlined calls to action.

  3. A testimonials widget, highlighting the love we get from our users.

  4. Bank logos and cool animations (if I may say so myself :D)

There are cases where an account doesn’t have transactions available to sync, for example:

  • No transactions have occurred in the account in the last 90 days (the duration that Lunchflow requests access to when connecting a bank account).

  • The bank’s integration doesn’t support transactions (like Monzo Pots).

Now Lunchflow offers a ‘balances only’ mode where you can sync balances into a Lunch Money account 🎉This is available for new and existing accounts.

This has been a highly requested feature, thanks to everyone who helped share feedback on this 😀 Keep the feedback coming!

We now support an easy way to renew access for another 90 days!

Also, you don’t have to wait for the full 90 days to expire, you can renew access any day after the day you last gave access to the app 😀

Based on popular demand, you can now connect your bank accounts to existing Lunch Money accounts!

This will:

  1. update the existing account’s balance.

  2. import the bank transactions into the new account.

This will allow you to keep the historical transactions intact, and all your rules and configurations should continue working seamlessly!

Keep the feedback coming 😀

Another highly requested feature! You can now map multiple fields into Payee & Notes fields, and Lunchflow will check the fields in order, and choose the first non-empty value.

To streamline the account configuration more, we made the following changes:

  • Enabled real-time preview of the calculated payee and notes values based on the settings.

  • Removed the transaction ID & date settings (it’s now automatically set).

You can utilize this new configuration when adding new accounts, or updating existing accounts 🎉

Fixed

Previously, all synced bank accounts were mapped to cash accounts in Lunch Money. We have now updated this to map credit cards to credit accounts, with an inverted balance (so positive means amount owed, to match how Lunch Money handles net worth calculations.)

Thanks, @Sam for reporting this 😀 Keep the feedback coming!

Improved

Made a couple of UI changes to the account configuration screen:

  • Expand the configuration to take up the full-screen width

  • Moved the ‘back to accounts’ button to the page header

  • Made the header sticky on the transactions table, so you always see the field names.

  • Added horizontal scroll bar to transactions table.

Here’s an overview of what these changes look like 👇
